OUR PRESENT! St Paul's was built in 1884. Over the years the congregations, which have worshipped here, have seen many improvements. Access to the sanctuary and basement is
reached by a labyrinth of stairs and although visually
pleasing to the eye they impede accessibility for the
physically challenged. The only easy access to our lovely
sanctuary is through St. Paul's Court where you will find
an elevator. However, this is for our residents' use and
is therefore not meant as a street level access for those
who wish to attend services and meetings. It has become
clear that an elevator is absolutely necessary. |
Well, folks, the grand opening celebrations are scheduled
for
Jan. 16, 2005.
For those of you who have not yet been inside the new addition, here are the
latest pictures!
| Enter from the street level to this spacious area. At the left, you will see the original brickwork. In the picture on the right, you will see the ramp that leads you to the lower hall of the church. | ||
| Straight ahead of the front door, you can see the door to Nellie's office. Nellie can see daylight now and is enjoying that fact! | ||
| The left picture shows John's new office. The curving staircase is nice and wide and the steps are easy to navigate for older legs! | ||
| Upstairs is another spacious gathering area, well lit, with
a nice hall that leads to the sanctuary. The elevator will certainly be a
boon to those who are not able to navigate the stairs!
Come and see for yourself, the wonderful work that has been done! |
